FAQs

We understand you probably have a lot of questions. Here are some of the most asked ones. If none of these answer your question, please feel free to contact us.

Ethos Remote Habitat is not a lodging or short-term rental but living in a remote location for a minimum of 4 weeks.

HOW DO I GET THERE?

Grace on the Lake is within driving distance from NYC. We suggest renting a car through rental companies, they waived the one-way rental fee, or apps such as Turo or GetAround. If you choose another form of transportation (plane, bus, train, etc) we can pick you up from a location that's close to the property.

WHEN CAN I ARRIVE?

We have 2 set arrival dates: May 15th & May 29th.

WHO IS COOKING FOOD?

At Ethos, food is at the heart of everything we do and for Ethos Remote Habitat you will get to enjoy fresh nourishing meals made with sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. We are sourcing local, delicious seafood from a coastal town near the retreat. Each location will have a chef on-premise to cook everything, from daily breakfast, lunch and dinner to extraordinary family-style dinners.

WHAT ARE THE FOOD OPTIONS?

All our meals will be prepared from sustainable and ethically sourced local food. In every location, we will have vegan and non-vegan offerings. For other dietary requirements please let us know and we will try to accommodate these.

HOW DO YOU SELECT AND CURATE PEOPLE?

Same as for our Ethos Members, we vet people who will inspire one another and are aligned by three main pillars: mission in life, personal values/mind-set, and relevance to other members. We are looking for people that are willing and motivated to contribute and participate in the community.

CAN I NOMINATE PEOPLE?

Nominations are limited. Only our Founding Members, Ethos F&F, and people coming to Ethos Remote Habitat can nominate.

HOW DO YOU MAKE SURE NO ONE IS INFECTED?

There is limited availability of tests so we can't guarantee that any of the guests are carrying the virus. We have secured COVID-19 antibody tests that all members will be required to take during the journey. Guests will also be required to stay for at least 2 weeks.

If you feel symptoms or feel a bit sick, you can get a PCR test for COVID-19 at CityMD prior to coming.

If you want to make sure you don't have it or want to check for antibodies, you can get the Serum Antibody test at CityMD For $55.

CityMD Information: https://www.citymd.com/news/covid-19-testing-update

Ethos will also be providing tests for those staying with us.

ARE WE PRACTICING SOCIAL DISTANCING?

We will fully comply with local government guidance on social distancing. We will also stay quarantined for the first two weeks with no outside interaction. For us, the most important is that the group has no interactions with the local population therefore we are coordinating arrival to the property in similar dates and a mandatory quarantine that starts upon arrival.

14 day quarantine is enforced and no one will be leaving the property, including the staff living on the premises. Groceries will be delivered to us.

WHAT IF SOMEONE GETS SICK?

Every location we have selected is in proximity of a local hospital and we will have a vehicle available 24/7 in case of an emergency.

IS THERE A HOSPITAL NEARBY?

Yes. All locations we have chosen have first-rate medical care nearby.

For Maine, learn more about the medical center here:

WILL I HAVE A PRIVATE WORKSPACE?

You will be able to work from your private accommodation as well as the common areas. Common areas feature a convenient remote work setup with a lot of space for concentration, work, and enough power outlets for everyone.

WHAT ABOUT WIFI?

There will be WiFi so you can continue your daily work and/or play routine but in paradise.

WiFi at Grace on the Lake is very strong due to the lack of mobile service. You'll be able to make calls and video calls over WiFi easily anywhere on the property.

Speedtest from Grace on the Lake.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Lodging in a single occupancy room, 3 meals a day prepared by our chef, programming, and events.

All rates are for single occupancy. For an additional person in the same lodging, there is an extra fee of $1,400.

WHO WILL BE THERE FROM ETHOS?

The retreat will be organized and attended by at least one member of the staff of Ethos besides our programming officer and one of the amazing chefs.

HAVE YOU DONE THIS BEFORE?

We did - one of our co-founders is currently living in the mountains of North Carolina in the same setup as Ethos Remote Habitat. This is what initially inspired us to extend the offering to all of our members and friends!

WHAT ABOUT PROGRAMMING?

Our events are based on three different topics:

A. Informative / Educational: Panels, intimate conversations, and movies.

B. Social: Family-style dinners and meals, music, games, and adventures.

C. Community Contribution: community-driven programming and experiences.

Although we are trying our best, we don’t have all the answers. No one does. What we do offer is an inspirational community in paradise, nourishing food, workspaces, and valuable programming.

For the creative and inspired vanguards, pioneers, creators, thinkers, and leaders of tomorrow.
